"I Vote My Conscience - Choosing Life"

Sunday 02 March 2008 by Dan Beyer

Make no mistake, anyone who wants to lead us from public office is out of their minds, certifiable. America should draft it's representatives from lively arenas such as Academia and the Arts. Better a University President or Poet than a politician. It's time to revive an ancient practice. I suggest that we create an American Impress Service Agency so that in the style of the Olde British Navy, the Government of the future will be populated by those in service through conscription.

I've grown weary of the expedience of compromise and choosing the lesser of many evils. The time has come to throw caution to the wind and Vote My Conscience.

There are metaphysical exceptions at work here my friends. Earth is at a crossroads. The stars are aligned and the planet is poised for a seminal event.

As far as leadership goes, Hillary is by far the best candidate out there. She has my vote as the best choice for the job. Except for Barack Obama. Hillary may be smarter, tougher, more experienced and in possession of more and better qualities than Mr. Obama but she is too much like a normal person. She is earthly and Obama's appeal is ethereal. We know her too well. On paper Hillary scores higher but like most people she is just a bit too inaccessible and aloof. Her story may be inspirational but no more than Mr. Obama's. As a public speaker she is excellent but not in the same league as the wildly charismatic Barack Obama. Obama attracts and motivates offering a vision with just enough infrastructure that we may fill in the void with our personal hopes and dreams ending the head movie by attributing the entirety of our hopeful fantasy to him.

Like the mythical "Ninth Wave" but this time around started by dropping a pebble into the pond and gaining momentum until at last mixed with the catalyst of years of exposure to the hard bitten reality of Dick Cheney and his golems (GW BUSH) we find ourselves filled with a strong yearning for a more benevolent society that no mere mortal can resist, let alone compete with.

We will eventually succumb to the Tidal Wave of diffusion and the momentum of belief in the collective delusion that has the name Obama inexorably rolling over the land.

Admittedly when held up to a line item by line item comparison there is not all that much difference between the frontrunner's. Me thinks that unsustainable though it may be Obama's message is a guaranty of victory. Regardless that his campaign is based on hope not reality. Eventually when one is in the throes of depression like America is now, an analysis of the quality of life comes down to a choice of whether or not to live at all.

My pondering of the Obama phenomena eventually came down to the simplicity of a single statement, "to be or not to be."

Having been at the precipice of life and death several times during this cycle of existence I speak from experience when I say that;

A) The human body can withstand pain waay beyond any possibility of psychological endurance for short and specific periods of time. I have for up to 17 hours.

B) Psychologically there are methods of meditation and out of body (astral projection) experience that can be used to temporarily escape physical bonds and hence avoid excessive pain in the short term.

C) At or beyond the threshold of this mortal and corporeal state it becomes obvious that eventually we will all enter oblivion.
So as we only go around once, when given the choice to return to this earthly continuum who would decline the offer?. I mean it's not like I've been here for 900 years and am bored or anything.

D) When challenged and when it comes down to it, passion and the energy to pursue that passion are virtually the only reasons to exist.

E) Of course modified by a desire to see how it all turns out.

The Bush/Cheney rise to office can be directly attributed to Bill Buckley enabling mid America's fear of freedom as stoked by JFK, Woodstock and Ken Kesey. Perhaps at last we can drop the anger and hatred to finally get past the fear of living.
